All programs/services offered through Maximum Capacity incorporate evidence-based, scientifically published techniques. These techniques and strategies are designed to enhance cognition using a balanced approach that includes memory, task management and psychological well-being.

Our program leaders teach these strategies in a fun and friendly way, providing an education in brain behaviour relationships, promoting self-awareness and improving cognitive capacity.

We currently offer the following services:

Presentation Back to Top of Page

The presentation consists of a one to two hour lecture, which is customized to address the specific interests of each group. The focus of the talk is to inform people about the changes that can, and often do, occur in the brain. The listener is taught the science behind brain function and neuroplasticity, learns how to identify the cognitive ‘blunders’ he or she is making and isolate the causes of these mistakes. The rest of the talk is then devoted to identifying techniques and strategies for combating cognitive changes. The information is presented in a way that is designed to raise cognitive self-awareness and motivate people to improve the way they think.

Group Seminars Back to Top of Page

Our multi-week seminar series is designed for individuals who want to improve the way they think by learning and practising a variety of techniques and strategies. A strong emphasis is placed on individual style and how the strategies can be integrated into daily life. Memory skills, task management and psychological well-being are taught in an interactive, psycho-educational format in groups of 6 to 20 people. The seminar series consists of 6 to 8 weekly sessions, which are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in length.  For those with time constraints who are prepared to work hard, we also offer a 2.5 day, action packed, condensed course.

Maximum Capacity group programs run regularly in Ontario through our Toronto Office, Wellspring centres and satellites, Hearth Place, Maplesoft Centre and at select Specialty Care facilities. Programs are also running in Alberta at Wellspring Calgary, in Manitoba at CancerCare Manitoba, and in Quebec at Cedars CanSupport and Hope&Cope.

Please contact us for further information on how we can help bring our programs to your area.

Individual Sessions Back to Top of Page

One-on-one sessions are designed for individuals with unique cognitive concerns or for whom a group format is not suitable or appropriate. The individual’s cognitive concerns are discussed, goals and areas for improvement are identified and a plan for rehabilitation is set. The number and frequency of sessions varies considerably from person to person.

Workplace Programs Back to Top of Page

Our workplace programs are offered in a variety of formats in order to cater to the needs of the organization. Our ‘lunch and learn’ style programs can be a single ‘informative’ seminar (similar to the ‘presentations’ described above) or a series of seminars spanning over 4-6 lunches (similar to the group programs above). We also provide half-day and full-day seminars in order to provide more detailed cognitive training in a condensed time frame. For those interested in our most extensive program, two full days are required.
